Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) about Plunge Pools by Soake Pools:
What is a plunge pool?
A plunge pool is exactly that... a small body of water for you to plunge into year-round. In hot weather you can cool off, and in cold weather you can bask in therapeutic hot salt water.
Why buy a plunge pool instead of a large inground pool?
A plunge pool will actually add value to your home! It is an aesthetically pleasing structure and looks much more natural in the landscape than a large swimming pool. If you go to resell your house, interested buyers will not be likely to want to rip it out and fill it in (as is often the case with larger pools). A plunge pool uses a whole lot less water than a large swimming pool and is much less expensive to run year-round. A plunge pool is also much less expensive than a large inground swimming pool.
How big is a Soake Pool?
Our standard sized pools are 7'x13' and they are 5' deep. They are larger than traditional hot tubs but smaller than most inground pools. We do offer customs sizing as small as 5'x5' and a bit larger than the 7'x13'. Please ask us for details on sizing.
Specs and sizing are available on our Trade Only Page for your landscaper or builder.
How much does a Soake Pool cost?
A standard size Soake Pool will start at $19,500. Your total cost will depend on options you choose ( heater, a seat and a cover) and will be largely affected by how it is installed and what materials you choose to finish the exterior. The pool can be installed fully above ground, partially raised or fully flush with the ground. Your landscape professional or installer will work with you to choose the installation method and exterior materials that work best with your landscape and your personal taste.
How is a Soake Pool different than a custom pool?
A Soake pool is delivered ready to install into its prepared site whereas most custom pools are created on-site by setting up forms and pouring the concrete or gunite into the forms.
A Soake pool is tiled in our warehouse, before it is delivered. Most custom pools are tiled or finished on-site.
The amount of time it takes to install a Soake Pool is shorter than that of a custom pool because much of the work is done before it gets to you.
How is a Soake Pool different than a hot tub?
A Soake Pool is a deeper body of water than a hot tub, and the water is peacefull and still. It does not have lots of jets and bubbles like a traditional hot tub. Another big difference is that a Soake Pool is intended for year-round use, being kept cold in the summer and hot in the winter.
What is a salt water pool?
A salt water pool uses a salt water filtration system. Pools are filled with fresh water (from your garden hose) and salt is added to the water. Soake Pools come with a Pentair Salt Water Filtration System.
Technical info (from Wikipedia):
Salt water chlorination is a process that uses dissolved salt as a store for the chlorination system. The chlorine generator (also known as salt cell) uses electrolysis in the presence of dissolved salt (NaCl) to produce hypochlorous acid (HCIO) and sodium hypochlorite (NaClO), which are the sanitizing agents already commonly used in swimming pools. As such, a saltwater pool is not actually chlorine-free; it simply utilizes a chlorine generator instead of direct addition of chlorine.
Benefits of salt water (from Wikipedia):
The benefits of salt systems in pools are the convenience and the constant delivery of pure chlorine-based sanitizer. The reduction of irritating chloramines versus traditional chlorinating methods and the "softening" effect of electrolysis reducing dissolved alkali minerals in the water are also perceived as benefits. For some people that have sensitivities to chlorine, these systems may be less offensive. Salt water pools are less expensive to maintain throughout the year, since salt is significantly less expensive than the commercial chlorines.
How do I heat my Soake Pool?
If you choose the heating option, your pool will come with a Pentair heating system that is very easy for your electrician to hook up. This system can be powered by propane or electricity.

How do I maintain a Soake Pool?
Soake Pools are very easy to maintain. We recommend you hire a pool service to test and maintain your water on a regular basis (just like most other pools). Because our pools are small, cleaning the pool and skimmer are very simple and take very little time. A standard pool vacuum and net (for floating leaves or bugs) will work well to keep your pool clean.
